15. Social feed, live chat & news
Social feed
The social feed is a central meeting place for the community and therefore and important part in platform engagement. The feed can be used by the platform admins and by the users as a means to share content of any kind. Users can share their thoughts, opinions, memes and other content. Platform admins can use the platform for platform related content, announcements and information about tournaments, etc.

The social feed will look like this:

Feed preferences
Filter through different social feeds and sources by selecting your perferred social feed:

New posts
This will show the user the latest posts shared in the general social feed.
Following
This will only show the user posts from brands that the users follows.
Popular
This will show the user the most popular posts shared in the general social feed
Platform related news
This will only show the user the platform announcements made by the admins.
The user can select a default social feed preference:

Select the social feed that suits your preference
Profile block
On the right side of the Social feed screen, you can see the user profile block which will redirect you to your user profile

Games
This will redirect you to the game's overview in the user profile.

Via User profile → Settings → Games
Teams
This will redirect you to the team’s overview. More information on Teams can be found here
Settings
This will redirect you to the user profile settings page.

Upcoming tournaments
Any upcoming tournaments will be displayed here. Clicking ‘All tournaments’ will redirect you to the tournaments and leagues overview.
Language filter for feed
Select a language to filter posts from the social feed.
Note: The feed post’s language from a user will be linked to the language the user selected from the user menu.
Making a post on the social feed
Users and admins can both post content on the social feed by clicking the social feed’s input field. The following screen will appear:

You can include text, images, gifs and polls in your post.
Note: Admins can post as a ‘brand’, by selecting a brand of choice from the dropdown menu

Live chat
The live chat functionality allows you to chat with every user on the platform.

Type a name in the search bar and click the user’s name.
Note: Users which whom you’ve interacted before or users that are followed by you will be displayed in the ‘Conversations' overview

Clicking the ‘cog’ icon will allow the following actions:
Flagging a user as a ‘favorite’ will show this user at the top your list, whether this user is online or offline.
Create a group conversation by inviting other users in the conversation
News
As an admin you can post news articles on the built-in News page.

Create a news item
You can create your own news items to display on the News page:
Via → Control Panel → News

Click the ‘+Add a news post’ button:
The following screen will appear:
Title: Submit a title for the news article Tag: Give the news item a tag. Disable comments: Determine whether users can comment on the news article or not. Hidden: Hide or unhide the news article. | |
Intro: Write an intro for your news article Content: Write the actual content of your news article. | |
Image (970px x 220px): Upload a banner for your news item. Mobile image: Upload a mobile view banner for your news item. SEO image: Upload an image to display in SEO applications. |
News page overview
Click ‘View page’, the following screen should appear:

Here you will find an overview of all news items.
Click the ‘Read more’ button to read the actual news item.

Edit: Edit your news item as you would set it when creating a new news item.
Edit banner: Change the banner you initially uploaded.
This will display more settings like filters and tracking options. Allowing you to display different images to different users groups among the userbase.
Click the ‘+Add image’ to add another image to the news article:
Language: This allows the system to filter files based on a user's selected language. Country: This allows the system to filter files based on a user's selected country. Minimum age: This allows the system to filter files based on a user's age. Maximum age: This allows the system to filter files based on a user's age. | |
Linked brands: This allows the system to track banner clicks. Clickthrough link: Enter an external URL to make the file clickable. Times clicked: Keeps track of the amount of times users have opened this news item. |
Click the ‘Submit’ button to confirm your changes and/or set up:
Embedding a video in a news article
It’s possible to include a video URL in your news article by embedding it. This can be done like this:
Via Control Panel → News → choose your news article of choice ( -> edit article)/create new article.
The following screen should appear:
Click the ‘content’ section, the following screen should appear:
Besides your written text you can embed a video to include it in your news article.
Go to the source of your video and find its embed feature:
Youtube video
Note: we will use a Youtube video for this example.
Right click the video display screen, the following drop down menu should appear.
Click ‘Copy embed code’ in the news article content. You only need the part as shown between “ “. Delete the rest of the code. Add ‘/i’ as prefix. The Youtube embed should look something like this
The output in the actual news article should look something like this:
Twitch stream
Go to the twitch platform and choose which video you want to embed:
Click the ‘Share’ button at the bottom right. The follow menu should appear:
Click the ‘Embed’ icon:
Copy the iframe URL as displayed between ' “ '. In this example, this should be:https://player.twitch.tv/?video=958138603&parent=www.example.com
Swap out ‘www.example.com’ part with platform URL, looking like this:https://player.twitch.tv/?video=958138603&parent=demo.strivecloud.io
Next, to finally embed the URL, you should add ‘/i/’ as a prefix. Looking something like this:
/i/https://player.twitch.tv/?video=958138603&parent=demo.strivecloud.io
Copy and paste the URL like shown above in the news article:
The output in the actual news article should look something like this:
